5 Instagram trends to look out for in Q4 of 2021

Updated: Oct 26, 2021

Instagram is my favourite social media platform. I spend most of my time on there engaging with other Virtual Assistants, learning new skills and sharing posts. Instagram is the most social social platform, in my opinion (easy for you to read!)

But Instagram changes a lot and we are constantly told different tips and tricks by gurus on how to make the ever-changing algorithm work for you.

But here are five Instagram trends to look out for in Q4 of 2021:

  1. Instagram shopping is going to increase

I don’t know about you but I have fully bought into the Instagram shopping hype. I like the fact that clothing companies have utilised this to make it easier to shop online (my bank account does not like this fact). Instagram shopping is going nowhere my friends, so if you can utilise it - then do!

2. Short form video content, reels, is going to remain popular

We’ve seen it happen with reels and now YouTube Shorts, but short form video is king and is going to remain so in the near future. If you are like me and would rather be seen dead than dancing around your living room for a reel, then there are many more ideas you can use - so don’t count them out!

3. Carousel posts

Carousel posts have gained more traction after dropping off for a short while. I like to use carousel posts when giving advice - especially posts such as ‘3 ways to relax after a hard day’ or ‘5 top tips for better time management’. This reduces the size of your caption and makes your post more exciting to read for the audience.

4. Cause driven marketing

Cause driven marketing is massive at the moment. Top brands such as BrewDog and Ben and Jerry’s are linking themselves to causes all around the world. A great example of this is The Body Shop’s Cruelty Free International. This campaign stood up against the testing on animals and used this opportunity to remind their customers of their loyalty to animal safety and welfare.

5. Interest is growing in the Explore page

Looking to find new people to follow? Perfect - because there is massive interest growing in the Explore page. This is enabling big brands to partner with new influencers, street artists to be discovered and for you to find other people within your community to befriend or collaborate with.
